This Year ABOVE THE BELT ANIMATED is a student singing competition where middle school and high school students will sing songs from ANIMATED movies and musicals. Above The Belt is presented in the style of American Idol, where middle school and high school students will have the opportunity to attend an audition day and perform for a panel of professional singers & directors for the chance to earn a spot as a TOP TEN FINALIST and perform in the ABOVE THE BELT SHOWCASE. The Top 10 Middle School and Top 10 High School students will be selected to perform in the Showcase. Performance Song length is a max of 3 minutes.
Enrollment Includes: Event Tshirt, Lucky Coin, Audition Spot, Written Adjudication and Comments, Workshop led by an industry professional, 4 tickets to The Above The Belt Showcase, the opportunity to earn the spot to open the show, the opportunity to earn the spot to open Act 2 after intermission, the opportunity to earn a spot in the Final Showcase. The Top 10 MS performers and the Top 10 HS performers will be selected to earn a spot in the Final Showcase. The Top 10 MS and Top 10 HS students who are awarded a spot in the Showcase, and the 2 lucky students who open act 1 and act 2 , will receive all enrollment entitlements listed above in addition to a video of their Showcase Performance.
AWARDS: The Top 10 MS and Top 10 HS students, along with the lucky students who earn the opportunity to open act 1 and act 2, will receive Above The Belt Medallions; (1) middle school and (1) high school student will win the grand prize: $2,500 scholarship to pursue their future performance endeavors.
The Showcase is open to the public. Family and Friends are invited to attend and enjoy an incredible evening filled with talented singers and cheer on their favorite performers.

AUDITION DETAILS
AUDITIONS: Songs can be up to 3 mins in Length. Your song must be a Country/Pop-country Song. Enrolled students may use backing tracks or Self-Accompaniment may be allowed with permission. The backing track may not contain any backup vocals. Please bring your accompaniment track on either your phone or ipad and a bluetooth speaker to play your song for your performance.
Once we receive your registration, we will email you the Audition Sheet so that you can choose your audition time slot.
AGE CATAGORIES
The Audition Age Catagories are:
Middle School - Ages 10-13
High School - Ages 14 - 18
The Top 5 MS and Top 5 HS Students will advance from Auditions to the Above The Belt Showcase. If you are age 10 -13 you will be competing in the MS Catagory. If you are age 14-18 you will be competing in the HS Catagory.
WORKSHOP
There will be a workshop on Friday evening led by an industry professional along with games, prizes, and a free Tshirt for all enrolled students. One lucky student will be chosen to OPEN the Showcase on Saturday Night and another lucky student will open Act 2. Their performances will be the opening acts for the ABOVE THE BELT SHOWCASE and will not be scored as part of the competition. They will also receive a video of their performance. This year there will be a Middle School Top 10 Showcase and a High School Top 10 Showcase.
SCHOLARSHIP PRIZES
All Top Ten MS and HS Students will perform in the Showcase and Compete for the $2500 Scholarship Prize. The Top Ten will receive an ABOVE THE BELT MEDALLION for advancing from Audtions to The Showcase. They will also receive a video of their performance, and a photo on the red carpet.
(1) Middle School Student and (1) High School Student will win a $2500 Performing Arts Scholarship and a Trophy on Saturday Night after the Showcase.
REFUND POLICY
There are no refunds for cancelations after September 1, 2026. At that point, all funds have been invested into the Above The Belt Production Costs.
